Oh, my gosh, what a day. I put on my lucky underwear this morning, then tried to figure out how I was going to make it for the next hours until the appointment - thank goodness work kept me busy. (And all of the messages about people keeping my cervix in their thoughts definitely helped!)
We got there, and did the cervical check first. It was great. No funneling, no dilation - measuring 3.16. That means that it's shorter than 4 weeks ago (when it was at 3.7), but in good condition. The doctor isn't going to worry unless there's reason to do so. Next we did the growth check. Baby is perfect. I'm 20w3d, and measuring 21w3d in almost everything. The baby's femur was measuring right on the 20w3d - I asked if it was okay to have the measurements a week apart, and the tech said they didn't worry until it got to two weeks. (I wonder if the fact that my husband and I have incredibly short legs has anything to do with it!)
Then, it was time for the gender. The baby had been keeping legs crossed for the beginning of the ultrasound, but then let us have a peek. I saw the three lines, and said, "That sure looks like a girl, doesn't it?!" The tech confirmed that indeed it did - we're having a wonderful, beautiful little girl! She promptly re-crossed her legs and kept them that way for the remainder of the ultrasound. She was super-active, though, and so perfect - it is just amazing to see her and think of her. I'm so glad that we can share Maddie's things with her, that our girls can have such a special bond. I'm just in love with this baby.
Thank you so much to everyone for your well wishes - I just can't tell you how much they mean!
